Week 10: Layers of Earth & Convection Cells

 1. What did you do in lab today?

2. big questions

  • What are the layers of Earth?
Inner core, Outer core, Mantle, Crust
  • What is the Theory of Plate Tectonics?
The theory of plate tectonics is how and why plates move. Essentially, convection currents occurring within the lithosphere or the upper mantle causing heat to rise and then the plates move and cool back down in a cycle.
  • What can form at the three types of plate boundaries?
Many things can form: volcanoes, mid ocean ridges, trenches, arc of islands, rift valleys, cracks in the surface, and mountains depending on the type of plate boundary.

3. What did you learn in Thursday's discussion?

4. Read the textbook: Done!

1. What did I learn from the textbook? Notes that I took from the chapter!

2. What was most helpful?

The most helpful thing this week was doing review and then reinforcing the ideas of plate tectonics and boundaries in both lab and lecture. With our upcoming assessment, it was great to be able to fill in gaps of knowledge.

3. What do you need more information on?

Nothing at the moment.

4. Questions, comments or concerns?

Not today.
