Week 2: Space: The Final Frontier

 1. What did you do in lab today?

    We did not have lab this week - it was Labor day.

2. big questions - 

  • How did the Space Race shape our understanding of space and technology?
Space Race and space exploration allows us to know so much more about our solar system.  The Space Race created competition that led to so many advancements and discoveries like more information on the moon as well. Additionally, it gives us a better look into what life could look like on Mars. 
  • What are the major milestones in human space exploration?
Sputnik, first man on the moon, rovers/satellites onto mars, closer look at our solar system.
  • How have different people contributed to space science?
There are so many different key parts, but the amount of mathamaticians, astronauts, crews, technicians. However, it is incredibly important to acknowledge diversity of the women and men that contributed so greatly.

1. What did I learn from the textbook? Notes that I took from the chapter!



2. What was most helpful?

The part that was most helpful to me was being able to see a critical eye on the reason why only male's are highlighted. Additionally, I was able to contextualize Hidden Figures as that is a movie that I love! Lastly, I did not realize how many satellites and rovers have gone to or near Mars. I learned today that Perseverance and Curiosity are still out there which is incredible.

3. What do you need more information on?

I think I need more information on how we can better explain what all of these big words are to students.
